Cookies

Suggested text: If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Embedded content from other websites

Suggested text: Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

Who we share your data with

Suggested text: If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How long we retain your data

At House of Hygiene, we respect your privacy and recognise the importance of protecting your personal information.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the rights available to you.

This policy applies to customers, independent distributors, prospective distributors and other visitors to our website.

We aim to process personal information responsibly, for legitimate purposes, and in accordance with applicable South African data protection laws, including POPIA.

We ask you to provide information that is accurate and relevant to your account, purchases or distributor application.

03

How We Use Your Information

We may use personal information to:

  • Create and manage website and customer accounts.
  • Process product orders, deliveries, payments and refunds.
  • Register and administer independent distributor memberships.
  • Verify registration fee payments and update membership statuses.
  • Allocate unique referral codes and maintain sponsor and downline relationships.

04

Distributor Registration and Referrals

House of Hygiene distributor registration takes place through a personal referral link supplied by an existing distributor or an authorised company registration link.

During registration, the system records which sponsor referred the applicant.

A new distributor receives a unique referral code and personal registration link.

These records help us maintain the correct distributor network and administer membership relationships.

Distributor sponsorship relationships may be visible to authorised administrators. Relevant referral information may also be used in future distributor portal features, subject to access controls.

Personal banking information is not intended to be publicly visible or disclosed to other distributors.

05

Banking Information and Payments

Distributor applicants may be asked for banking information for membership administration and potential future payouts.

Our distributor registration system is designed to encrypt banking details before storing them in the WordPress database.

Access to full banking information should be limited to authorised personnel who need it for legitimate administrative purposes.

The current R100 registration payment may be made using the payment method shown during registration, including direct bank transfer.

Payment records, references, amounts and verification statuses may be recorded to manage registrations, orders, refunds and accounting.

Where third-party payment services are used, those providers may process information necessary for payment authorisation, settlement and fraud prevention. Their own privacy notices may also apply.

House of Hygiene does not require your internet banking password, card PIN or one-time password to register as a distributor.

06

Customer Orders and WooCommerce

Our online shop uses WordPress and WooCommerce to manage products, customer accounts and orders.

When you purchase products, we process information necessary to administer the transaction, such as your name, contact details, delivery address, order information and payment status.

Information may be shared with payment providers, delivery partners and service providers where necessary to fulfil an order.

07

Account Login and Security

Customers and distributors may create accounts and sign in using login credentials.

Passwords are stored by WordPress using password hashing rather than being stored as readable plaintext passwords.

Login cookies and account sessions help keep users authenticated while navigating the website.

Users should keep passwords confidential and notify House of Hygiene if they suspect unauthorised account access.

08

Cookies

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies that support functionality such as:

  • Account login sessions and remembering users.
  • Shopping cart and WooCommerce sessions.
  • Website preferences and administrative functionality.
  • Security and prevention of automated abuse.

WordPress login cookies typically last two days. Where a user selects "Remember Me", the login session may continue for approximately two weeks.

Other cookies may have different retention periods depending on their purpose and the plugins used.

You may manage cookies using your browser settings. Restricting essential cookies can affect the shopping cart, account login and other website functions.

09

Comments, Media and Embedded Content

If website comments are enabled, information submitted through comment forms may be collected, together with technical information used to identify spam.

If users are permitted to upload public images, they should remove sensitive location metadata before uploading.

Pages may contain embedded content from third-party websites. Those services may collect information, use cookies and apply their own privacy policies.

10

These safeguards may include access restrictions, encryption for selected sensitive records, password hashing, security maintenance and monitoring.

No internet-based platform can guarantee absolute security.

Where a security incident affects personal information, we will assess and respond to the incident in accordance with applicable legal requirements.

12

How Long We Keep Information

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, or where a longer period is required or permitted by law.

Relevant retention considerations include:

  • Ongoing customer and distributor accounts.
